Eldon Fredrick Haisch was born on January 16, 1938, in Norfolk, NE to Lillian (Kell) and Fredrick Haisch. He attended High School in Laurel, NE and graduated in 1955. After High School, he knew all he wanted to do was farm, so he had the great debate: to join the army now or chance getting drafted and putting his farming career on hold. He chose the Army. After two years away, he came back to live the farming life he’d always wanted and met the love of his life Marcia (Sauser) at the Laurel Elevator. One year later, the two were married on September 1, 1963 in South Sioux City, NE, and shared 56 loving years. Together they welcomed one daughter, Cheri, and three sons, Brian, Brent, and Bruce who then went on to give him his seven beloved grandchildren. If Eldon wasn’t in his tractor, you could always find him in the stands watching his grandkids or in his chair at the farm house watching the Lakers.

Eldon is survived by his wife, Marcia of Laurel; four children Cheri (Craig) Huenergardt of Vista, CA, Brian (Melissa) Haisch of Laurel, NE, Brent (Diane) Haisch of Lincoln, NE, and Bruce (Lynette) Haisch of Laurel, NE; brother Bob (Paula) Haisch; his seven grandchildren, Katee Haisch, Kayla Huenergardt, Brett Haisch, Emmy Huenergardt, Ethan Haisch, Evan Haisch, and Eli Haisch; brother-in-law Don (Mary Jo) Sauser; and many friends.

Eldon was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Lillian Haisch, and in-laws Arnold and Blanche Sauser.

Marcia and Family, I’m so sorry for your loss, I noticed the obit in the Norfolk Daily News. I will always be grateful to you Marcia for taking me in to teach me the ropes of how to manage a nursing home; you were highly recommended, and I was blessed that you helped me meet those requirements. I have great memories of being in Laurel. God’s Blessings to you all.

I am so sorry for your loss. I will always remember how much Eldon loved his family and the farm. I loved listening to him talk about how the farm worked (I knew nothing about farms before meeting him :)). He was so patient with all of my questions and never made me feel stupid. He will be so missed. My thoughts are with all of you…
