Barbara Jean Hangman

Barbara J. Hangman, age 68 of Sioux Falls, SD and formerly of Wynot, Nebraska died on Sunday, October 27, 2019 at the Ava”s House in Sioux Falls, SD.

Mass of Christian Burial will be on Saturday, November 2, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Family (Sacred Heart) Catholic Church in Wynot with the Rev. Jim Keiter officiating.  Burial will be at the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Wynot at a future date.  Visitation with the body present will be on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until service time.  Arrangements are under the direction of the Wintz Funeral Home in Hartington, Nebraska.

Pallbearers will be James Wuebben, Ian Bishop, Tony Skufca, Brett Skufca, Travis Olander, and Ryan Olander.

Barbara Jean was born on December 20, 1950 in Cleveland, Ohio to Charles and Mary (Kelce) Skufca.  She grew up in Cleveland and graduated from North High School in East Lake, Ohio.  Barbara received her Cosmetology degree while in High School.  She rented a chair in a local shop and then she and a friend opened Shears Inc. in Ohio in 1982.  Barbara married Rodney A. Hangman on March 12, 1977 in Mentor, Ohio.  She and Rodney lived in Euclid, Ohio until moving back to the Hartington/Wynot area in 1990.

Barbara loved spending time with her grandchildren and her family.

Barbara is survived by her daughter Michelle Hangman & (James Wuebben) of Sioux Falls, SD, son Michael Hangman of Bayport, MN; three grandchildren Leigha, Ian, and Jessie; two sisters Peg Skufca and Mary Skufca both of Willoughby, OH; two brothers John (Sherri) Skufca of Ft. Wayne, ID, Tony Skufca of East Lake, OH; brother-in-law Jim Olander of Newcastle, NE; many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Rodney on April 13, 2017 at the age of 68 years; sister Therese Olander.

    Please accept my condolences and prayers for your loss. I attended Cosmetology with Barb at North High and recently just reconnected with her. She was a sweet, lovely lady and I know how much she will be missed. May she RIP in our Lord’s loving arms.
